The Wicked Witch of the West couldn't get wet or she'd melt. I observe that the Thais believe the same thing. During rainy season, which it is, people will not go out of their house if its raining. So, if its raining hard, my English class possibly will be cancelled. Church attendance would be low. Special events will fail.
I think it follows along with some past folk beliefs about temperatures. If a Thai person has a cold, they won't drink cold liquids. If its raining, they are certain that if they get wet, they will be sick. Last night, we only had three students at Preston's last English class before he returns to America. But, charades was still fun!
