As four girls ran upstairs to their English class on Saturday, they each respectfully bowed first to me. And then, they each informally gave me a big hug and sniffed my cheek. Here in Thailand, for those dear to you, you would not kiss them in public. You'd sniff their cheek. Even in private, I believe its a gesture of endearment like kissing their cheek.
After they each sniffed me so sweetly I thought to myself....to be part of this culture, am I going to need to start sniffing people?
